Chair Yoga – 7 Poses You Can Do At Your Desk

Have you ever practiced Yoga at your desk?

Most of us, like it or not, spend too much time sitting at a desk on a computer. I think we all know by now (at least in theory) that sitting at a computer all day is pretty hard on your body.

And of course, our Yoga practice helps with that. But what about during the day when we are working? Isn’t there some way to have a Yoga break during the day while we are working? Why yes, I’m glad you asked.

How about 7 Yoga poses you can do In your chair at your desk?

Any kind of regular repetitive motion (or fixed stillness) can over time be injurious to our bodies.  So it’s no surprise that I have so many students with chronic tension and or work-related injuries. Back pain, neck pain, and wrist pain are all too common, not to mention the tight hips, hip flexors, and hamstrings.

I did a whole post on the damage sitting in chairs can cause, which you can see here. And yet for many of us, standing while working or a ‘sit to stand desk’ (which is ideal) is not a reality especially if you are working from home.

I’m a strong believer that for most of us our Yoga practice has to fit into our lives (even for Yoga teachers) not the other way around.

So I created a little chair Yoga Sequence for Y’all. You can do this while work at your desk.

It’s ideal if we can do some regular stretching on an ongoing basis rather than limping into Yoga class once or twice a week and patching ourselves up.

In the video below, I’ll walk you through seven yoga poses you can do at your desk.

If you know someone who could use this video please forward it to them.

Happy practicing,
