Book Review: The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark

posted in: Yin Yoga Podcast 0

Welcome to the World of Yin Yoga

I recently had the pleasure of diving deep into a conversation with Bernie Clarke who needs no introduction in the world of Yin Yoga, particularly known for his work on YinYoga.com and his Yin Yoga book: The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga: The Philosophy and Practice of Yin Yoga

You can check out my two part interview with Bernie here

One of the most frequent questions I get: “What Yin Yoga book should I start with?” Today, I offer my insights on what many consider the ultimate resource in Yin Yoga – Bernie Clark’s “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga.”

This episode is a brief review of his Book The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga, we discuss his book and the incarnations of it. We discuss this book  a fair bit in the interview episodes with Bernie so definitely check those out.

Why Bernie’s Book Stands Out

Bernie Clark’s work isn’t just informative; it’s practically the “Yin Bible.” During my own Yogic journey, including my training with the esteemed Paul Grilley, Bernie’s book was frequently recommended as an essential text. If you’re serious about Yin Yoga and haven’t read this book, there’s a significant gap in your practice.

The book has evolved over the years. Originally stemming from a newsletter Bernie created, it eventually morphed into a comprehensive guide following feedback and interest from his readers. The first publication, “YinSights,” paved the way for the more formal “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga.”

A Journey Through Editions

From its earliest incarnation in 2012 to its latest edition in 2019, Bernie’s book reflects ongoing learning and adaptation in the field of yoga. Although I initially started with an older edition, the 2019 version offers updated insights and corrections, making it an even richer resource.

Diving into the Content

Bernie’s book excels in exploring the connections between yoga, anatomy, and the science of fascia. This makes it a haven for those who love to nerd out on the physiological aspects of yoga. From detailed discussions on fascia to more traditional asanas and the use of props, it offers a thorough exploration of yin yoga practices and principles.

Points of Discussion and Critique

While I laud Bernie’s detailed approach, two points stand out for potential improvement:

  1. Inclusion of More Detailed Photographic Guides: While the book features numerous asanas with some prop usage, I’d love to see even more accessible variations to cater to less flexible individuals.
  2. Simplification of Chinese Medicine Concepts: Although Bernie offers Chinese medicine theories he has simplified  core concepts a bit too much. I advocate for a deep dive into these aspects only if one has extensive training in Chinese medicine.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a Yin Yoga practitioner or teacher, grabbing Bernie Clark’s book is no option—it’s a necessity. I urge you to explore it, reflecting on your practice and teaching. While I have my own preferences, such as the emphasis on rebounds over counter poses, Bernie’s book remains an unrivaled resource for understanding yin yoga profoundly.

So, if you’ve just caught the yin yoga bug or want to enrich your practice with the best literature available, look no further than Bernie Clark’s “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga.”

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about yin yoga, or if you’ve found this book helpful in your journey. Until next time, may your practice bring you peace and contentment.

So if something’s come up in your class, or you’re confused about something, and you’d like me to cover it on the podcast please get at me and let me know

19
00:02:16.990 –> 00:02:25.250
Nyk Danu Yoga: some of you know this because you’ve heard me say it before, that my biggest fear was starting. This podcast would be running out of ideas of what to talk about.

20
00:02:25.480 –> 00:02:28.750
Nyk Danu Yoga: because it is very niched, so

21
00:02:28.980 –> 00:02:35.929
Nyk Danu Yoga: help me help you if you’ve got a question, a quandary, a confusion, a conundrum. Please let me know.

22
00:02:36.730 –> 00:02:52.490
Nyk Danu Yoga: And you could send it to me. Instagram, you could email me via my website. You could post it below in the comments on Spotify or on Youtube, those some of the ways that you could let me know what you want me to cover. I would be super grateful. Instagram

23
00:02:52.780 –> 00:02:57.379
Nyk Danu Yoga: Dms, that works, too. Don’t DM, me on Facebook. I don’t really.

24
00:02:57.710 –> 00:03:02.700
Nyk Danu Yoga: I don’t really spend much time on Facebook. It looks like I do. But I don’t. I go in.

25
00:03:02.960 –> 00:03:12.029
Nyk Danu Yoga: Briefly, I check the Yin Yoga group. I do a couple of things and I get out. I don’t enjoy Facebook, but on Instagram feel free. Send me a DM, if you have any topic ideas.

26
00:03:12.920 –> 00:03:22.610
Nyk Danu Yoga: Okay, today is probably going to be a pretty brief episode, but I feel like it needed to be covered? Because something.

27
00:03:24.880 –> 00:03:33.200
Nyk Danu Yoga: The question I’ll often get and you’ll often see in groups is, what yin yoga books should I get? What yin yoga books should I start with.

28
00:03:33.640 –> 00:03:37.309
Nyk Danu Yoga: and so I will periodically do a book review.

29
00:03:38.490 –> 00:03:47.740
Nyk Danu Yoga: And usually, if I’m offering a book review, not always. But usually I will have interviewed the person as well. And that is the case

30
00:03:47.970 –> 00:03:49.080
Nyk Danu Yoga: with this one.

31
00:03:49.270 –> 00:03:53.899
Nyk Danu Yoga: So I want to talk today about Bernie Clark’s book.

32
00:03:56.990 –> 00:04:02.979
Nyk Danu Yoga: and I’m gonna just show you a couple of the versions that I have for those of you that are watching on Youtube.

33
00:04:03.120 –> 00:04:16.569
Nyk Danu Yoga: So I’ve already interviewed Bernie Clark. There’s part one and part 2. And if you ever want to see the former episodes, if you click in the the show notes, there’s a link that says, see all episodes at a glance.

34
00:04:16.690 –> 00:04:24.649
Nyk Danu Yoga: And that’ll take you to a Google Doc that I have. That is an ongoing list of all of the episodes I’ve done with links so that you can listen to them.

35
00:04:24.830 –> 00:04:35.330
Nyk Danu Yoga: So please take advantage of that. So I have already interviewed Bernie, depending. When this comes out it may actually be in this season. I think it might be

36
00:04:35.627 –> 00:05:00.620
Nyk Danu Yoga: so you won’t have to scroll back very far. There’s a part one and a part 2 highly recommend you check that interview those 2 interviews out because I did a lot of like Q. And A with Bernie on things that I read in his book, so I don’t want to go into kind of the blow by blow of of all the things in the book that I did or didn’t like or confused me, or whatever, because I did that in my interview with him. But I will do a bit of an overview.

37
00:05:00.840 –> 00:05:06.710
Nyk Danu Yoga: and one of the reasons that I wanted to do Bernie’s book is because it’s sort of like.

38
00:05:07.160 –> 00:05:12.050
Nyk Danu Yoga: dare I say the Yin Bible kind of

39
00:05:12.290 –> 00:05:29.529
Nyk Danu Yoga: so I’ve already done an episode also on Paul, my teacher, Paul’s book. But I will tell you when I was in training with Paul, and we, if we ever to ask him, is there a textbook that we need? Or is there a book that we should grab? He always said, grab Bernie’s book like, Bring Bernie, bring Bernie’s book

40
00:05:29.960 –> 00:05:42.130
Nyk Danu Yoga: and so you know this, if you are a yin teacher and a yin practitioner, and like a serious yin practitioner, and you don’t have Bernie’s book, you’re seriously. There’s a hole there, go get it right now.

41
00:05:43.082 –> 00:05:48.230
Nyk Danu Yoga: So that I want to say it is sort of like the Bible of yin yoga books.

42
00:05:48.750 –> 00:06:00.130
Nyk Danu Yoga: Let’s talk about its evolution as well. So when I 1st got Bernie’s very, very 1st book, it was A, and he talks about this in his interview. He had a newsletter that would go out.

43
00:06:00.910 –> 00:06:24.379
Nyk Danu Yoga: and people would, you know, love the newsletter? But then they would be like, Yeah, but I’d like to have a paper copy like it’s online. And you know, blah, blah. And so you know, he had some Pdfs and people like, yeah. But the Pdfs were too long. And so, anyways, eventually he compiled all of those sort of topics into a book that he called Yin Sites. Now I don’t have my copy

44
00:06:24.700 –> 00:06:35.299
Nyk Danu Yoga: of yin sites that I so I can’t show you and those of you that aren’t watching on Youtube. You won’t see these, anyway, but I will hold them up. The reason being that I have a book problem

45
00:06:35.520 –> 00:06:41.570
Nyk Danu Yoga: like like, if I was addicted to anything other than listening to podcasts, it’s probably books.

46
00:06:41.970 –> 00:06:45.689
Nyk Danu Yoga: And so when Bernie got.

47
00:06:46.160 –> 00:07:00.809
Nyk Danu Yoga: you know, upgraded that version essentially, you know. He took his yin sites and a publisher kind of came to him and was like, Hey, hey! How’d you like to do a yoga book? You know? And then they edited it, and stuff like that. And so he took some of it out.

48
00:07:01.365 –> 00:07:09.210
Nyk Danu Yoga: So it was a reasonable length. And that’s when the second evolution of that information came out in.

49
00:07:09.650 –> 00:07:13.300
Nyk Danu Yoga: I’m holding it up. So if you’re not on Youtube, you won’t see it. But in this book.

50
00:07:14.540 –> 00:07:19.670
Nyk Danu Yoga: So this is the Complete Guide to Yin Yoga, the philosophy and practice of Yin Yoga.

51
00:07:21.030 –> 00:07:22.359
Nyk Danu Yoga: and there’s a little

52
00:07:22.980 –> 00:07:31.840
Nyk Danu Yoga: mentioned there from Paul. Bernie Clark’s The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga is one of the best yoga resources available, agreed.

53
00:07:32.010 –> 00:07:53.559
Nyk Danu Yoga: So this was like the 1st published by a publisher version. So he took his insights. He put all that into a book that was self published. People could get and then publisher came to him. And this is what came out of that. Now you can tell. I’ve obviously spent some time reading it for those of you looking at it, you should see all the purple sticky notes sticking out of it.

54
00:07:55.040 –> 00:08:05.014
Nyk Danu Yoga: And I didn’t even know until before getting ready to interview Bernie that there was a 3rd version. So I started rereading this book.

55
00:08:05.610 –> 00:08:17.810
Nyk Danu Yoga: which Bernie signed for me. Well, he signed for me and my partner because my partner went to his training, and I said to him, Here, take my book, but get him to sign it for me. And so, anyways, he mentioned my partner in there, too.

56
00:08:18.746 –> 00:08:35.069
Nyk Danu Yoga: So this was the book that I was rereading, getting ready to interview Bernie. You see all the sticky notes for comments, questions, things I wanted to ask him, etc. And then I got 90% through this and realized there was an even newer version of this book.

57
00:08:35.330 –> 00:08:38.780
Nyk Danu Yoga: So then it evolved.

58
00:08:39.150 –> 00:08:42.060
Nyk Danu Yoga: And I think he said 2012,

59
00:08:42.580 –> 00:08:45.009
Nyk Danu Yoga: just going to look inside the cover to see.

60
00:08:47.130 –> 00:08:57.450
Nyk Danu Yoga: Oh, no! This one. So the 1st one. This one must have come out in 2012. So there was yin Sites, which was the Newsletter, then the 1st edition of the Complete Guide to Yin Yoga.

61
00:08:57.660 –> 00:09:00.349
Nyk Danu Yoga: just looking at the date. Yes, in 2012.

62
00:09:01.150 –> 00:09:12.289
Nyk Danu Yoga: That was my my second version of Bernie’s book that I bought. And then once I realized as I got 80% through that and wanted to invite Bernie on the podcast

63
00:09:12.510 –> 00:09:15.030
Nyk Danu Yoga: that actually there was a newer version.

64
00:09:15.340 –> 00:09:21.439
Nyk Danu Yoga: This one again, same title, the Complete guide to Yin Yoga Philosophy and practice, Bernie Clark.

65
00:09:22.270 –> 00:09:24.339
Nyk Danu Yoga: I’m holding it up for those on Youtube.

66
00:09:24.934 –> 00:09:29.890
Nyk Danu Yoga: This one came out in 2019, and so I had to go back

67
00:09:31.230 –> 00:09:48.519
Nyk Danu Yoga: and reread from the beginning the 2019 version. And there was there were several changes that he made. Just kind of as you know, as as Yoga professionals. One of the things that hopefully we’re doing is we’re always learning and growing new information and expanding our own kind of

68
00:09:50.650 –> 00:09:52.410
Nyk Danu Yoga: thoughts and feelings about

69
00:09:52.610 –> 00:10:02.980
Nyk Danu Yoga: the world and the yoga and etc. And so he did go back and do a few edits to things from the previous version in this version.

70
00:10:03.260 –> 00:10:08.669
Nyk Danu Yoga: So I just wanted to give you a little bit of the history of the book before I talk about the actual book.

71
00:10:09.548 –> 00:10:18.689
Nyk Danu Yoga: I strongly believe that even more so than my teacher, Paul Grilly, although I love Paul, and always want you to buy his book and support him

72
00:10:19.176 –> 00:10:26.360
Nyk Danu Yoga: but if you’re going to buy one yin yoga book to start just one, that’s all you got the budget or the time for right now.

73
00:10:26.460 –> 00:10:28.369
Nyk Danu Yoga: it’s definitely Bernie’s book.

74
00:10:28.690 –> 00:10:29.939
Nyk Danu Yoga: It’s this one.

75
00:10:30.340 –> 00:10:35.990
Nyk Danu Yoga: the Complete Guide to Yin Yoga Philosophy and practice at this point. This is the best resource

76
00:10:36.200 –> 00:10:39.100
Nyk Danu Yoga: that I’ve ever read on yin Yoga.

77
00:10:39.440 –> 00:10:50.520
Nyk Danu Yoga: and it’s a good combination of kind of the history of yin. And then, like a lot of the sciencey stuff, you know. So if you want to deep dive into fascia and

78
00:10:51.210 –> 00:10:59.809
Nyk Danu Yoga: piezoelectricity and all these kinds of things? If that’s the kind of student you are, you like to nerd out, then, definitely, you’re going to like Bernie’s book.

79
00:11:00.010 –> 00:11:12.230
Nyk Danu Yoga: but it’s also got a good amount of Asana as well in here, and it’s got some Asanas that would not be in Paul’s book. Because, you know, a lot of pulse

80
00:11:12.340 –> 00:11:25.249
Nyk Danu Yoga: teachers that he trained kind of started evolving the Asana practices and adding more and more practices in. So there’s a lot of really good Asana pictures as well in here.

81
00:11:30.700 –> 00:11:31.740
Nyk Danu Yoga: And

82
00:11:36.240 –> 00:11:40.189
Nyk Danu Yoga: you, you even see some some use of props which is amazing.

83
00:11:40.980 –> 00:11:53.590
Nyk Danu Yoga: probably not still as propped as as I would do if I was making a book which I’m slowly working on, I would offer a lot more variations and props. But there’s definitely some good options in here for like how to prop poses

84
00:11:53.780 –> 00:11:56.600
Nyk Danu Yoga: and things like that. So

85
00:11:56.910 –> 00:12:04.660
Nyk Danu Yoga: he’s got some upper body stuff in here which you know previously was not in Paul’s book. There was no upper body in, and Bernie’s got some in here.

86
00:12:05.430 –> 00:12:10.789
Nyk Danu Yoga: I really like, generally speaking, love this book.

87
00:12:11.500 –> 00:12:16.780
Nyk Danu Yoga: Now there’s a few things, of course, like there is with anything that I would change.

88
00:12:18.430 –> 00:12:20.670
Nyk Danu Yoga: And one of which would be,

89
00:12:22.970 –> 00:12:29.580
Nyk Danu Yoga: there’s 2 things in here that kind of stand out to me. It’d be great to have even more pictures, but I realize at a certain point.

90
00:12:30.030 –> 00:12:35.850
Nyk Danu Yoga: you know. We gotta we gotta just call it a day with the pictures, perhaps, but I would. I would love to see

91
00:12:36.040 –> 00:12:49.130
Nyk Danu Yoga: even more variations and versions of the poses in pictures and ways to use props than there is. So it’s already really good that way. But it would be nice to see a little bit more accessibility.

92
00:12:49.270 –> 00:12:54.180
Nyk Danu Yoga: The models in this practice, again, are super flexible.

93
00:12:55.370 –> 00:13:05.900
Nyk Danu Yoga: so there isn’t as many pictures of kind of variations and versions as I would like, but there’s still plenty compared to previous books. So don’t let me saying that.

94
00:13:07.100 –> 00:13:10.910
Nyk Danu Yoga: stop you from grabbing this book and checking it out because

95
00:13:11.050 –> 00:13:19.849
Nyk Danu Yoga: there’s still plenty of options with props. I just am like a prop queen, and so I would like more. I would like more and more accessible versions.

96
00:13:21.290 –> 00:13:27.239
Nyk Danu Yoga: The only other thing that I would mention 2 other kind of if I was going to critique.

97
00:13:28.340 –> 00:13:39.939
Nyk Danu Yoga: based on my own experience is that he does mention counter poses a lot, and I’m not big on that. That’s a conversation that maybe him and I will have to have at another time.

98
00:13:40.200 –> 00:13:47.110
Nyk Danu Yoga: I learned yin from Paul Grilley, and the what he calls the rebound was of the utmost importance.

99
00:13:47.260 –> 00:13:57.540
Nyk Danu Yoga: and sometimes that rebound might be done in some sort of a moving shape, and sometimes it would just be you lying still or sit seated still. And Paul, basically

100
00:13:57.650 –> 00:14:03.560
Nyk Danu Yoga: he didn’t over guide what you should be doing in your rebound time. He just kinda you know.

101
00:14:03.760 –> 00:14:11.510
Nyk Danu Yoga: let us do what we needed to do. So he might say something like, you know, lay on your back. But if somebody was seated, because that was better for them. Paul doesn’t care.

102
00:14:12.030 –> 00:14:17.890
Nyk Danu Yoga: whereas Bernie really focuses on counter poses, and I am not really in love with that

103
00:14:19.960 –> 00:14:23.810
Nyk Danu Yoga: I’m now that just to be clear, I’m not saying you shouldn’t counterpose in yin.

104
00:14:24.100 –> 00:14:50.440
Nyk Danu Yoga: I’m just saying I’m not a fan of pose, counter pose, pose, counter pose, pose, counter pose, and this again comes down to a difference in training from myself and from Bernie, and differences in lineage. So you know, Bernie did a lot of Ashtanga Yoga over the years, and in that form of Yoga there would very much be this sort of pose, counter, pose, pose, counter pose. However, I come from the Iyengar camp.

105
00:14:50.510 –> 00:14:56.600
Nyk Danu Yoga: and so we would finish one direction of movement of the spine completely in the sequence.

106
00:14:56.780 –> 00:15:12.889
Nyk Danu Yoga: and then we would put in a twist or something lateral before we would go in the opposite direction. And if you want more on that, I did a whole episode on sequencing where I break this down in detail. But just to mention that to me

107
00:15:13.540 –> 00:15:15.220
Nyk Danu Yoga: rebound time

108
00:15:15.900 –> 00:15:35.149
Nyk Danu Yoga: is is the ticket. I’m not a like. Do this pose now do. A movement based counter pose just doesn’t work for me. It’s not how I was trained. It’s not why I fell in love with yin. I don’t like it much. But again, my own personal preference. So that’s just a Nick’s preference, not a something wrong with the book thing.

109
00:15:35.340 –> 00:15:39.620
Nyk Danu Yoga: So he does focus on counter poses, because obviously he does in his practice and his teaching.

110
00:15:39.790 –> 00:15:43.730
Nyk Danu Yoga: whereas I’m not a big fan of the counter pose thing.

111
00:15:45.270 –> 00:16:05.080
Nyk Danu Yoga: And then my final critique if I was going to give a critique to this. And this did come out in our interview is that. And this isn’t just Bernie that’s done. This. This is several Yoga teachers in Yemen that have done this, where they include Chinese medicine and meridian information in their work without having studied it in depth.

112
00:16:06.010 –> 00:16:14.710
Nyk Danu Yoga: and so it can come across a little bit overly simplified, and can leave things

113
00:16:15.120 –> 00:16:23.829
Nyk Danu Yoga: feeling a little bit. Yeah, a little too simplistic. And then it loses some of its accuracy when it becomes overly simplistic.

114
00:16:24.690 –> 00:16:39.769
Nyk Danu Yoga: So what words people are using, what they’re saying that the pose does to the meridians? All of that is a bit lost oftentimes. And I would say also in this book, although he does make a notable difference from book one

115
00:16:40.228 –> 00:16:45.659
Nyk Danu Yoga: where he comes up. He sounds a bit more dogmatic about it, and then in Book 2 he’s a little more.

116
00:16:46.120 –> 00:16:57.469
Nyk Danu Yoga: Some people believe this could be happening, but as a pet peeve in general, not just with Bernie, but just with any Yoga teacher. I would really rather them not

117
00:16:57.640 –> 00:17:02.079
Nyk Danu Yoga: include Chinese medicine information in their work if they haven’t studied it in depth.

118
00:17:02.390 –> 00:17:20.410
Nyk Danu Yoga: because I feel like by the time they introduce teachers to it. And then the teachers then take what they learned and and the telephone game happens. Now we hear all kinds of crazy things in yin yoga groups about teachers and meridians that are totally inaccurate. And it’s because they’ve taken

119
00:17:20.490 –> 00:17:37.410
Nyk Danu Yoga: what one teacher said who probably wasn’t necessarily expert enough to make those statements. And then they’ve digressed with them further. And now we end up in this murky, weird Chinese medicine soup of inaccuracies and oversimplifications.

120
00:17:37.580 –> 00:17:42.169
Nyk Danu Yoga: So, in my opinion, I would wish for Bernie and for everybody.

121
00:17:42.430 –> 00:17:49.719
Nyk Danu Yoga: Do not include Chinese medicine information in your books or in your teacher trainings, unless you have studied Chinese medicine.

122
00:17:50.210 –> 00:17:55.080
Nyk Danu Yoga: and it’s really only kind of the end of it.

123
00:17:55.270 –> 00:17:59.499
Nyk Danu Yoga: His book, really, he’s got like a whole bunch that he could have focused on.

124
00:17:59.610 –> 00:18:08.769
Nyk Danu Yoga: So where I think Bernie really excels, though, is, if you want to hear somebody talk about fascia like in detail, definitely Bernie’s book.

125
00:18:08.980 –> 00:18:34.259
Nyk Danu Yoga: So he’s really like, really up on the science stuff. And so if that’s the kind of rabbit hole that you love to go down. You’re going to find tons of information here in Bernie’s book. So I love this book for that, and this is why I will recommend it to students that I don’t recommend that my students have to buy this in order to take my training, but it is in my continuing resources. So that if students have

126
00:18:34.330 –> 00:18:42.879
Nyk Danu Yoga: just this real kind of nerdy love for going down these rabbit holes with fascia and things like this, this is definitely the Yin book to grab.

127
00:18:43.690 –> 00:18:47.779
Nyk Danu Yoga: I just wish that he left the Chinese medicine stuff to the side.

128
00:18:48.120 –> 00:18:52.700
Nyk Danu Yoga: but I also wish that, with several other teachers and their books as well.

129
00:18:54.740 –> 00:19:00.479
Nyk Danu Yoga: Yeah, he talks a lot about alignment and anatomy in here. There’s some good sequences in here.

130
00:19:01.007 –> 00:19:19.409
Nyk Danu Yoga: Overall. It’s just a fantastic book, and I think if you are a Yin teacher and you don’t have this book, what the hell that’s crazy! Go get this book. And even if you are a yin practitioner. This is the book. So if you have to only buy one yin Yoga book

131
00:19:19.800 –> 00:19:24.460
Nyk Danu Yoga: at this point at this time of this recording. This is the one.

132
00:19:25.070 –> 00:19:35.239
Nyk Danu Yoga: even though I love my teacher Paul, and I’m glad I have his book. If I were to only buy one, this would be the one. So it’s the Complete Guide to Yin Yoga Philosophy and Practice, by Bernie Clark.

133
00:19:35.410 –> 00:20:05.089
Nyk Danu Yoga: There’s my 2 cents on the book. There’s a little bit of the history of how it went from insights to this 3rd version of this 3rd incarnation of Bernie’s work in print. Bernie’s course got a whole bunch of other books as well, especially on like anatomy and skeletal variation, which are great. If you learn well from them, they’re more like textbooks than something you’d sit down and read, but those are great, too. But this is a yin yoga. Podcast so of course, I’m going to talk about

134
00:20:05.470 –> 00:20:06.490
Nyk Danu Yoga: in Yoga.

135
00:20:06.890 –> 00:20:20.959
Nyk Danu Yoga: So I hope that you find that helpful? This question comes up all the time from teachers. And in the Facebook group that I’m in the Yin Yoga network shout out to the Yin Yoga network where people will ask for what books should I start with? And if you’re only going to buy one to start.

136
00:20:21.380 –> 00:20:25.769
Nyk Danu Yoga: it’s got to be this one, Bernie Clark’s The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga.

137
00:20:26.380 –> 00:20:27.090
Nyk Danu Yoga: Now.

138
00:20:27.460 –> 00:20:36.029
Nyk Danu Yoga: if you got a little more money, I would also recommend grabbing Paul’s book and Sarah Power’s book. I’ve already done a review and a discussion of Paul’s book

139
00:20:36.520 –> 00:20:47.140
Nyk Danu Yoga: in a previous season, and Sarah’s will be coming up at some point. But if you’ve only got the money for one, grab this one, I hope that you find that helpful

140
00:20:47.530 –> 00:20:54.400
Nyk Danu Yoga: all right. Short one. I hope that you find that information helpful, and if you don’t have this book, go and get it

141
00:20:54.620 –> 00:20:57.710
Nyk Danu Yoga: seriously, you can’t. If you’re a yin teacher and you don’t own this book.

142
00:20:58.280 –> 00:21:05.230
Nyk Danu Yoga: Tisk, tisk, tisk, I say all right, that’s it, for now, until we meet again. Bye, for now.
